Water Temperature

The water temperature in degrees Celsius at each measuring point, from official bathing-water monitoring. Know whether the water is warm enough before you make the trip.

Water Quality

Microbial data for Enterococcus and E. coli, shown as absolute values (CFU/100ml) and categorized according to the EU bathing water quality directive (2006/7/EC). Ranges from excellent to bathing ban.

Depth of Sight

Water clarity measured as depth of sight. Useful for divers and snorkelers, and a general indicator of how clean the lake is on any given day.

Where does the data come from?

The app visualizes measurements from the responsible Austrian authorities as published by AGES bathing-water monitoring. It does not measure the water itself.

How often is the data updated?

Measurements are published during the bathing season on the authorities’ schedule. They are not a live sensor feed, and an older reading may remain visible between updates or outside the season. Check the measurement date in the app.

Does it work for tourists who don’t speak German?

Yes. The app is available in English and adapts to your device language automatically. All key metrics – temperature, quality ratings, and directions – are fully usable without knowing German.

Is there a web version?

No. The web app has been retired, so the data now lives in the iOS and Android apps only.
